Even I Don't Really Know What I've Been Up To
By Cameron Rusin
Hi friends!
Again, apologies for the fact that Tama has written like 4 blogs in the time it has taken me to write one. I continue to not understand how she has time for this, but more power to you. Also this post might be a little weird or dry because I really don’t know what to write about, but do feel obligated to give some kind of update, so here’s what I can remember from this week!
Honestly, the biggest thing has been the fact that I got sick on Tuesday. The “Freshman Virus” has been spreading like wildfire, and I thought I had dodged the bullet when I remained healthy through the majority of the xc team and my hall getting sick. But no, my slow painful death had just been postponed. Luckily, being sick hasn’t super gotten in the way of classes, but it has impacted my running which has been annoying. Anyways. I’m still sick, but the end is in sight!
This week was also when most of the GIMs for clubs happened, so I attended far too many of those. I’m still not sure which clubs I will try to stick with for the rest of the year, but I did attempt to only sign up for ones that aren’t a huge time commitment because I’m already doing XC and music, plus a more than normal time consuming chem class. But here are all of the options: Garden Club, Public Harmony (music based community service), Veg Society, Active Minds (mental health advocacy), American Chemical Society, American Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Society, O-STEM (lgbtq in stem), and the Tufts Mountain Club. I’m definitely missing some… but that’s okay.
Then there’s all of the XC related news, because there is always XC related news. We had our second race yesterday at Williams. I’ll spare you the details but it was crazy hot and humid, I was very sick, and it was my first 6k, which combined into the most painful race of my life, but I might just be saying that because it’s still a recent memory. I’m pretty bummed that I didn’t feel great for my first 6k because I was really excited to race it, but it was so hot that everyone died, sick or not, so I probably wouldn’t have run well if I was healthy either…
Then in the XC routine, we had a social activity Saturday night, and this one was a weird one (but also like every group on campus does it???). Date night! Basically the seniors set up blind dates for everyone who we were then supposed to hang out in a party setting with for the night. I was dreading this, but I ended up really enjoying myself. My date was actually a little different, because instead of finding me a typical “romantic” date, the seniors (with some other input) set me up with a gay sophomore guy because they thought we would get along I guess? I was very happy that it was a platonic date, and the guy was pretty fun to hang out with. He also knew a fair amount of the other dates and some of the team so I got to get to know a lot of other people as well which was fun. I still think that this social activity is really weird, but I ended up having a good time?
So that’s my week! It went by really fast, but looking back to last Monday seems like it was forever ago and I have a hard time remembering what I’ve been up to. Mostly running, doing homework, and sleeping, but I also had time to watch The Princess Bride and get Mexican food with my hall, which was fun. I continue to love who I am living with.
Have this sunset picture from a week ago because I haven't been taking pictures and it rained for like 4 days straight this week, which isn't that pretty anyways

Oh man i feel like i'm definitely next in line to get sick then if you guys all already were
