How Many Pairs of Pants Can I Wear in One Day???

By Cameron Rusin

Hi friends!

Apologies for how long it’s been. For a bit there I could attribute my lack of posting to my stress over midterms, but those are mostly over now (my last is on monday!!! Ahhhh rip my grade!) so I guess the issue now is that I don’t have much to write about. So this is going to be a retelling of my eventful, and somewhat odd, morning.

6:30 wake up and walk to practice, wearing running shorts (pants #1). This wasn’ very eventful, but I recall a pretty sunrise?
7:05 leave on run! Yay!
7:12 run into a pole on said run and RIP A HUGE HOLE IN MY SHORTS. I don’t have any pictures, but the entire right side from my hip to the bottom of the shorts was gone. I was bummed. I liked these shorts.
7:13-7:50 complete rest of run with gaping hole in my shorts....
8:00 Today was twin lift! Which is just picking someone on the team to twin with for morning lift. I last minute twinned with a junior who just happened to have some old Tufts crew uniforms (that she had found in a bucket last year???) so that’s what we wore (pants #2).

TBH not the best picture, but aren't these crew singlets stylish?

9:00 done with lift, but I have to go to class and only have a crew singlet and a pair of shorts that definitely do not cover enough of my butt to be worn to class. Luckily, a friend offers me her leggings from twin lift, so I wear those for class (pants #3)
1:00 finally return to my room to shower and put on pants that are actually mine. I opt for jeans, because it was actually a little cold today and athletic shorts are beginning to not cut it (pants #4).
8:00 Sew my mangled shorts back together! I wish I had a before picture to compare because I am very proud of how I made them (hopefully) wearable again.
The right side of my shorts post surgery. I should've been doing homework instead, but oh well.

9:00 change out of jeans into my comfy shorts! Yay! Also my final pair of pants for the day (pants #5)!

So yeah. Moral of the story is to not run into poles but also to persevere because not only did I make it through the day with the help of other people’s generous pants or sewing kit lending, but my mortally wounded shorts might be live to see another run! Or not. I feel like hand sewing running shorts is not the best idea.

  1. This is great, I appreciate you. My moral of the story regarding clothing is hook your bra straps when they go in the laundry, otherwise the hook might get caught on a hole the dryer and tear your bra completely in two. I deemed my bra destruction beyond the point of repair and threw it away. Maybe this is the world's way of telling me that I should only wear sports bras?
