Sociology And Hamstrings Are Impeding My Happiness And Return Home But That's Okay!
By Cameron Rusin
Hi friends!
It’s been years! I’m not even sure what the last blog I posted was about. I think it was before thanksgiving? Oops… Anyways I felt the need to write just a little something about my last couple weeks of school because if I don’t blog now I’ll have not blogged for probably 2 months by the time I’m back at school. Also this is a nice way to procrastinate studying for my sociology exam that starts in 4.5 hours.
At this point I’m done with ⅘ of my classes, with my sociology final being that last ⅕, which is crazy. I know we did this in high school after every semester, but this feels different. Like in high school even though whatever class I was taking was ending, I knew I would still see all of my friends elsewhere and could stop by to say hi to teachers if I really wanted to, but now with a student body of 5,500 instead of 1,500 and the increased number of classes available to take, finishing a class means that there is a fair chance that I will never see the professor or most of the other students in the class ever again. Maybe I’ll past some of them on the Green, but even then there are definitely people, professors in particular, that I can say with certainty that I will not interact with ever again. I don’t think I’m trying to say anything in particular about this, just that it’s weirding me out.
The other things I’ve been up to are less fun. It’s been finals period for what seems like months, I’ve been sick for what seems like months, and I’ve managed to injure myself running, which I haven’t done in years. Finals have honestly been fine. Nothing to write home about, however I really don’t want to take my sociology final today. Something about it being my last final, at 3:30 in the afternoon, and less than 24 hours until I’ll be on my way home just isn’t very appealing. I’ve hit a kind of unfortunate point of just not caring anymore, but I probably should care? Oh well. And the entire freshman class of the cross country team managed to catch the flu/bronchitis/pneumonia all at the same time which was really not a good time. But we all survived! Then as for running, I have some kind of mysterious hamstring injury that is not getting better, so I’ve been having a whole lot of fun on a spin bike everyday. Spinning isn’t too bad because it’s been really cold outside, but I was really looking forward to my first run back home which has now been postponed for a bit. So it goes. To end this kinda depressing paragraph on a high note, I started reading Slaughter-House-Five again! I love that book! And I love that somehow finals week is when I have time to start reading again!
Anyways, see y’all soon.
