A Good Day
Hi friends!
I've been meaning to post a blog for a while now, but I really haven't had anything concrete to blog about. Life has been good, but pretty ordinary, so I figured I'd do something a little different (and probably taking a page out of Tama's book) and share the events of just a day. This Friday was very busy, very exhausting, but very good, so here goes!
6:30 am
Wake up! It's a little early for my liking, especially because I really couldn't sleep the night before, but I promised a teammate I would meet her to workout so I roll out of bed, attempt to not wake-up my roommate, and get ready. I had many plans for eating later in the day so it was a grab a banana and go kinda morning.
7:00 am
I get to the track. Frisbee sectionals were the next day so our "practice" for the day was to do our full warm-up, stretch, and throw. In order to accommodate a teammate's work schedule, I had agreed to meet the earliest. The extra sleep would have been nice, but I enjoyed (and really needed to) starting my day early. Teammate ended up being late so I spent a bit reminiscing my glory days by running a mile on the track. Not fast.
8:30 am
I need to go grocery shopping for an event later in the day so I check out a bike from the library (I can do that!!!) and head to Wegman's. The workers at Stop and Shop and BFresh, my two normal grocery stores within walking distance, are on strike, hence the biking to a different store, which ended up being such a blessing because I loved Wegman's! It was so big and had so much food and I spent far more time and money in there than I meant to!
10:30 am
I have a animal aid dog, which basically means that for "community service" I walk a dog every Friday morning. I think I shared this before but I love my dog, Brewster. This morning was special because I met a friend to walk with and we talked about dogs and life while treating Brewster to an extra long walk around campus.
12:00 pm
My one class of the day :/. Orgo lab lecture is kinda the worst but I think I did okay on the quiz and we got out early, so it wasn't too bad.
1:30 pm
Walked to Davis Square with a friend to get boba. I hadn't had boba or caught up with this friend in ages so it was a very nice time. We also ended up staying off campus for a bit and just chilling in the square which was extra nice. I have some wonderful friends here, and having weather that doesn't make you immediately head back indoors is a huge plus.
2:30 pm
Jumbo Days! Friday was the first of many accepted students days here, so I stood at the frisbee table and talked to prospies. My tour guide friend did most of the talking, but it was still kinda fun to see so many bright eyed high school seniors. I'm never sure whether I should tell them to come here or not so I tend to try to not talk to Tufts prospies, but frisbee is something I can really sell with no conflictions.
4:00 pm
Baking time! We had team dinner that night, and everyone living in dorms were assigned to bringing desserts, so I had all of the dorm 'wos over to my suite to do some baking (hence the wegman's trip). It was kinda exhausting as I had been social and running around all day and now had to coordinate baking efforts, but I feel like we really bonded during those 3 hours. Also the desserts we made were sooooooo good. I mostly helped with oreo-stuffed brownies covered in a chocolate ganache with more oreos, but we also made rice krispies. My team is full of crazy artists, so we ended up with some incredible elephant rice krispie sculptures.
6:30 pm
Team din time! An upperclassmen house hosted all of us to a pasta potluck dinner, which was very good. Ewo has really perfected garlic bread. I kinda zoned out on the couch while the team attempted to interpret dreams, and was very content. We then watched "The Big Short" which was just so funny to me because what team watches a movie about the 2008 economic crisis before a tournament? It is a good movie though, and my teammates are so smart and were always able to stop the movie and explain what was going on.
11:00 pm
Bed time! I stayed up much later than I meant to watching "The Big Short"... 11 isn't too bad normally, but wake-up was 5:50 the next morning... Oh what I do for frisbee
SO yeah! Sorry if that was not at all interesting to read, but essentially although life is pretty consistent and normal, it is full of frisbee, good friends, and food.
